Comment on the page, and the AI makes the edit

Here is the feedback loop most of us actually run: you send someone a report, they screenshot it, draw a red circle on the screenshot, email it back, and you retype their circled thought as instructions to your AI, which edits the thing, which you re-send, which they re-screenshot. Four apps, two humans playing telephone, one small edit.

Claude Code has a documented loop that collapses all of that: your reviewer leaves a comment on the page itself, tags Claude in it, and the edit happens — the page updates in place, Claude replies in the thread, done. It's real, it shipped, and almost nobody is using it. Part of that is the honest catch we'll get to: this one is gated to Claude's business plans, and I'd rather tell you in the third paragraph than the third section.

Quick read: Claude Code can publish a session's output as an artifact — a live web page on claude.ai that updates in place when republished. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an artifact shared within an organization accepts comment threads from viewers. A commenter who mentions @claude in a thread (or uses the thread's Claude control) activates it, letting Claude read the thread and reply; replies are attributed to Claude, via the artifact's author. With Claude Code v2.1.228 or later, a session watches the artifacts it published and can respond to sent comments on its own, subject to the session's permission settings. Publicly shared artifacts do not accept comments. The feature requires Claude Code v2.1.221 or later and is documented in Claude Code's artifacts documentation.

Three words before they land cold. An artifact is a web page Claude Code publishes straight from a working session — a report, a dashboard, a walkthrough — at its own private claude.ai link, and republishing updates the same link. A thread is a comment conversation pinned to a spot on that page, like the margin comments in a Google Doc. And a mention is the @claude you type inside a comment — the tap on the shoulder that turns a remark into a request.
